CHRISTMAS DINNER PARTIES - WHAT TO WEAR TO A CHRISTMAS BLACK TIE DINNER PARTY
There are so many Christmas dinner parties to attend during this festive season. Of course, you want to look stylish for each of them. With an endless list of events, which comes with the season, each requiring a different dress code. If you have been invited to a black-tie Christmas party, don’t panic about what to wear. I’ve got you covered! Now let’s dig in.
What's the best way to navigate black-tie dress code? Simply put, “black tie” for women best translates as “long”, and in an evening-appropriate fabric, such as velvet, chiffon, silk, lace, satin. It can be sexy, classic, or conservative as long as it suits your personal style. A cocktail dress may also do if your host is of a relaxed nature, but it’s best to stick to a floor-sweeping number for the ladies and a tuxedo for the men as expected. The ladies can get away with a suit set as well. Keep it Classy. How can I predict how smart an event will be? There will be clues. Firstly, consider the invitation, there will be clues if it does not say outright. The more fanciful the invite is, the smarter the event. If the summons came in digitally, via Facebook or WhatsApp, you can relax a little. The exception is Paperless Post – just because the invite dropped in via email doesn't mean it's not a floor-length affair. The medium of text message should also be respected: it's a method that suggests, “I’m so laid-back with my invitations” but means “rhinestones, sequins and all out glam are encouraged”. In the first instance, don’t be afraid to text your host for clarification on what level of formality they are expecting their guests to respect, as well as intel on what they themselves are planning to wear. Whether you’re going full glam with sequins and sparkles or keeping it casual with a pop of colour just like myself , you’ll want an outfit that wows!!! To make sure you stay warm until the party is over, wrap up in a fur or faux fur jacket. My dress is from ivyekongfashion. I accessorised with a Hermes bag and a Kurt Geiger bond shoes.
