AUTUMN FASHION BY GUEST BLOGGER, KATHERINE : BUSINESS FASHIONABLE PART 3
Autumn is a magical time of year filled with crisp air and new beginnings. It’s the start of my clinical rotations, interview season for colleges, new jobs, and a time of visible and visceral change. I love it, because it signifies having more options, fashion and otherwise. Your wardrobe should change too, with fewer sundresses and pastels, and more layering and warm jewel tones.
AUTUMN FASHION - WHITE HOUSE BLACK MARKET PANTS, MIA SHOES, J.CREW SWEATER, BANANA REPUBLIC SHIRT
I love black, and the nice thing about Autumn fashion, is that it’s more acceptable than summertime to wear it. But why limit yourself to one color when contrasting two makes them both pop? Cuffing the sleeves gives the sweater more dimension, especially when paired with tighter fitting dress pants. The neutral tones of the sweater and shoes frame the look, so the large central print appears playful, but not unprofessional.
WHITE HOUSE BLACK MARKET PANTS, MIA SHOES, J.CREW SWEATER
Here, I layer with my white consultation coat. It makes the contrasting colors more vibrant, and wraps the look together in a polished way. It you’re required to wear a uniform component to work, consider doing something like this to minimize the flashiness of your attire. If you don’t, consider the power of a looser fitting blazer. In my first post, I showed a tightly fitted blazer with a dress that flared past the waist. A looser blazer works here, because the dress pants fit like skinny jeans. When you put together a Autumn Fashion look with contrasting colors, it’s important to focus on every detail. Here, I chose a hair tie that matches my sweater and shoes. Neutral tones can complement your summer highlights, and emphasize your tanned skin.
J.CREW EARRINGS DAVID YURMAN RING
Gold toned accessories are perfect for Autumn Fashion. They work well with a variety of autumnal colors like purple, orange, brown, and dark green. They add a shimmer without being overpowering. David Yurman’s jewelry is fantastic, from the level of craftsmanship to the degree of comfort. I wear this citrine ring daily, and it rarely requires polishing. J. Crew features a variety of work appropriate accessories, from thin headbands to tortoise patterned hair ties. Their jewelry is usually on sale more than their hair ornaments, however, if the headbands in the children’s section fit, they’re typically less expensive.
