“Fashion and style are an important part of the Royal Ascot experience for all attendees”.

It’s that time of the year again. The races season has just begun and I am so delighted to be attending my very first Royal Ascot race this year with my friends. I have always wanted to attend both Royal Ascot and Kentucky Derby, I guess I am gradually ticking off my to do list with regards to the  races. The Royal  Ascot Ladies day  which I will be attending is a day usually filled with glitz and glamour. Everyone comes dressed to impress with flamboyant hats to leave a lasting memory.  The prestigious annual event will take place for four days this summer between Tuesday, June 18 and Saturday, June 22. Thousands of people are expected to attend, however there is a strict dress code that racegoers must follow.  Everyone is expected to dress in a classic way. Royal Ascot and Kentucky derby is where style meets class.

                                        Royal Enclosure Ladies

Ladies are reminded that formal daywear is a requirement in the Royal Enclosure, defined as follows:

MCM SS17 Collection

  • Dresses and skirts should be of modest length defined as falling just above the knee or longer.
  • Dresses and tops should have straps of one inch or more.
  • Jackets and pashminas may be worn but dresses and tops underneath should still comply with the Royal Enclosure dress code.
  • Trouser suits are welcome. They should be of full length and of matching material and colour.
  • Jumpsuits are welcome. They should be of full length with regulations matching that for dresses.
    Styles To Avoid :

    • Strapless, off the shoulder, halter neck and spaghetti straps are not permitted.
    • Midriffs must be covered.
    • Fascinators are not permitted; neither are headpieces which do not have a solid base covering a sufficient area of the head (4 inches).
    • Strapless, off the shoulder, halter neck and spaghetti straps are not permitted.
    • Midriffs must be covered.

Hats

Hats should be worn; however a headpiece which has a solid base of 4 inches or more in diameter is acceptable as an alternative to a hat. Preferable, I would usually match my hat to the colour of my dress or my shoes. Either way, your outfit should look very glamorous and classy.

River Island

I am wearing an Ivy Ekong Fashion black bandage dress,  paired with Chanel and YSL accessories. I will post my Royal Ascot outfit here once attended on the 20th of June.

Let me know your thoughts.
