A lot of you already know that I am a huge fan of leather jackets and trousers and have in the past worn mine in several ways. Depending on the weather which is totally unpredictable in this part of the world, leather jackets can be paired with skirts, trousers, denim, and pretty much anything. Styling such pieces is very versatile. Dresses, jeans and tops, shirts even work clothes all go well as an ensemble. Purchasing a real leather item is quite expensive, but there are other choices if you are not looking to splurge. Options such a faux leather is also available and can sometimes be mistaken as the real deal if you buy a good quality pair. Trust me, splurging on a real leather is a great investment I promise you that! Here are a few tips on how to style yours while layering at the same time;
The A-line skirt and the pencil skirt are good staples and you can dress them up or down. You will need to work out which style works best with your body shape. If you invest in a really good one, it will last you forever. For the pencil skirt, go for the softest leather you can find so it will feel less restrictive.
Leather dresses are absolutely fabulous! They scream effortless, chic, and are great for a classic look. If you pair such dresses with a pair of thigh boots, they become even more fab. I particularly prefer a neutral shade for a dress. Colours such as, black and navy are great if you want to play safe. These colours are also very easy to style. If you want more daring look, then try colours such as red, burgundy and more vibrant colours. Again, if you invest in a good piece, it will last for a very long time if well looked after.
Leather trousers are a bit trickier to style. You need to make sure you’re wearing a top that works with it. Also consider your body shape and what you want to accentuate when putting the leather trouser look together. It’s a bit more complicated to style than dresses and jackets but not to worry always stick with your gut feeling when it comes to styling a leather trouser. Don’t forget, ‘’personality is key’’
Without a doubt, this season everyone wants a leather biker jacket. They are great for night out in winter when you don’t want to wear a big coat. They can look funky or smart and are a great way to give an edge to your outfit. Whether it’s to the side or in the middle, decide if you are better with a statement zip or a hidden one.
