WHY A CAPE DRESS IS A MUST HAVE

I am such a huge fan of a good cape dress and I keep adding a few more to my collection every fashion season. If you are a fan of this blog you will be familiar with my other blog post about cape dresses and even cape coats. First of all, this cape dress is everything! I love the clean silhouette it gives and the deep blue colour is perfect. Like a friend rightly said; ‘’a cape dress overlay adds just the right amount of movement and drama to your outfit’’ Isn’t that all we need in such outfits! The cape dress has always exerted a mysterious and magical classic appeal.  I have tried photographing this outfit for days now but the rain won’t let me, and I didn’t want to shoot this cape dress in doors, because you won’t be able to see the outfit the way you do now if I had photographed it in doors. cape dress Throughout the history of fashion and costume, capes; be it dresses or coats have played a role in the clothing of every population. I read somewhere that in the Victorian age, capes and wraps, sometimes embroidered or with paisley motifs for women, were alternated with black, fur-lined capes for men.  From 1910, the cape began to come into its moment. Paul Poiret was definitely one of the first tailors responsible for the transformation of the cape, playing with its shape in various forms. In 1911 he created a velvet Batik with colorful designs and swirls in the muted tones typical of the era, and trimmed with fur at the collar and cuffs. It was Poiret who made the first ethnic-inspired cape, which he called Tanger, in 1919. Obviously I have been doing some research about capes. How amazing is that! I styled this gorgeous dress with my nude Christian Louboutin pumps and a Louis vuitton  bag. This is one of my favourite looks and I hope you like it as much as I do. My cape dress is from asos. I bought it a while ago, so not sure if it's still in stock. You can look  for similar styles and cape coats as well here. Till my next post, stay fabulous! Love Ivy cape dress
