SEASONAL PERFUME AND SCENT CHANGES

images -ivy
Christmas is just around the corner which comes with all its festivities. For some people they use the same perfume all year long and do not really have a seasonal scent. For others it’s totally the opposite. What I’m not sire is how many people especially women belong in the later category. As women we enjoy wearing sexy perfumes, scents that are sophisticated, sexy, endearing but yet very classy. After all they say the smell of your perfume introduces you and the type of woman you are before you even speak. so my question is, how many women do actually have a different scent that they use during the Christmas season? Why some do not mind wearing their favourite perfume all year...

It’s BEGINNING TO LOOK AT LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

Hello my lovelies, it surely is beginning to look a lot like Christmas over here. What does Christmas mean to you? Leave me a comment below and tell me what Christmas means to you. For me, it’s a time of reflection, a time to sit and look back at the past months, a time to spend to family, a time of creating some beautiful and special memories.

What I look forward to more during this time of the year is decorating with my kids. It’s become our yearly tradition. We start by having tea, mulled wine,  some mince pies and nibbles. Then we play loud Christmas music, decorate and dance. This has over the years become a...

MAXI DRESSES FOR WEDDING GUEST

Wedding season is here and this year is much busier than usual with rescheduled ceremonies due to the gradual life of the lock down. I have gotten so many requests for what to wear to weddings this year and wanted to share a few favorites. When it comes to buying a dress to wear to a wedding, I like to buy a dress I will actually wear again so it doesn’t get worn once then sit in my closet for years to come. There are a few different types of ceremonies you may attend, so here are some picks depending on which celebration you may go to. More can be found here

PREGNANCY OUTFITS – WHAT I WORE WHILE PREGNANT

Pregnancy is an incredible  experience in the life of women. Pregnancy comes with it’s aches and pains; but who says you cannot dress your way through it. 9 months of growing a miracle inside of you needs to reflect also on the outside. I know every pregnancy is different. Some people experience morning sickness all through their pregnancy and have no time to dress up or even wear any makeup. What matters is that you feel confident both in and out during your pregnancy and that you’re looking after you and your baby. I did dress up a lot during this pregnancy, probably more than I did during my previous ones. I radiated from both within and outside  and wanted to leave beautiful...

Why Fashion Bloggers Are Rocking “Mum Jeans”

Remember when we used to tease our mum when she pulled on those faded, high waisted jeans? Well, it looks like we’re going to have to eat our words, because the mum jeansis back and it's up left and right on the street style scene and is even being sold by high-end designers like Alexander Wang and Levi's. Super popular in the eighties. I remember seeing mum's  rocking their mum jeans  Levi’s 501! Until recently, we couldn’t possibly think about wearing anything other than skinny jeans? The mum  jeans were considered as being unflattering and unfashioned. Well, all the ‘cool girls, celebrities, and fashion blggers, including myself are wearing them now. Mum  jeans gives you that cool, effortless vintage feeling and...

PREGNANCY NEWS: WE ARE HAVING BABY NUMBER 3

Hello everyone, it’s been a while here. Life and all it’s hustle and bustle  tends to get in the way of me posting here sometimes. But I’m here to let you all know that we are having baby number 3. I’m so excited and my family is even more excited.

When I announced this news on Instagram some people were very surprised because they had no idea that we were trying for a third baby. Yes we were. We tried for so long, did two IVF and had one miscarriage during these past few years of trying. During the covid lockdown in 2020, we were naturally blessed with a pregnancy which I confirmed early January 2021.

SPRING FASHION VERDICT FOR 2021

It’s rather difficult for any fashion editor or fashion influencer to admit that while we may live to try new styles and colours  each season, not everyone else will follow suit. In fact, only a fraction of the trends predictions  actually become viral. look  at  low-rise denim as an example. In truth, the best spring trends, and spring purchases when it comes to fashion, are a mix of divine timing and ultimately are championed by you, our devoted readers. So in light of that truth, as usual I am not eager to adopt any trends at all but to stay true to my style and possibly add more brainy colours to my wardrobe. Don’t we all need some beautiful bright pieces to brighten...

Nigerian Designer Ivy Ekong Uses Her Influence to Encourage Diversity in the Fashion Industry (Q & A)

The fashion industry is evolving. POC are being represented more in popular magazines like Essence, Marie Claire, and Vogue. We’re seeing more and more black designers popping up on the runway each year. Society is embracing concepts like diversity and inclusion in an attempt to change the narrative that euro centricity is the standard of beauty. The truth is that people of color have always and will continue to influence the way we live, look, dress, talk, act, etc. Our dominance in the culture isn’t something that is overlooked anymore and we love to see it! But this is only the beginning. There’s plenty of work that needs to be done as a collective but I think we’re headed in the right direction. In...
